Z Storm Review

This is a Japanese action thriller based on “anti-bribery, anti-corruption, (and) anti-greed”. The film features the Independent Commission Against Corruption (a type of task force) in Hong Kong, which deals with any corruption related incidents within the Government or in this case money laundering cases in bank firms.

Throughout, the beginning of the movie I was very confused as everything seemed to be occurring all at once and the plot seemed to me like it was jumbled. But I had to be patient, because the more I got into the movie, the more that was revealed and I understood about the plot. Furthermore, I thought the film had some really great shots and the action was not over-exaggerated, which made the film a little bit more realistic. I thought the ending of the film was very interesting because, it ended in a cliffhanger style, even though the “bad guys” were caught or killed. The ring leader who remained anonymous throughout the whole movie is seen watching the ICAC team walking away/towards a building. This would suggest to the audience that perhaps there is a sequel that could be expected, as we would want to know whether the ring leader has something else planned and would the team be able to stop him.
